The Summer of 2010

Finally, after some time in Tokyo for Rosanne and the girls and Kevin finishing up things at GSIS the family was back in Niagara for the summer.  A time to relax, catch up with family and friends and a chance to enjoy some rests before returning to Korea for the 2010-2011 school year.

The following are some highlights from the summer:

It was with great joy that the Wendling family was able to watch Ryan and Alex graduate from Ecole Secondaire Jean Vanier.  Both boys are now done high school and both are headed to Ottawa to continue their education.  Ma tante was extremely proud of her nephews and what they had accomplished.

Soon after returning to Niagara - Justine was asked to join a travelling soccer team based in Port Colborne, a team with many of friends from her school or who she played other sports left.  Coach Larry and Coach Joe made her feel very welcome even though she could not stay for the entire season.  Pictured above is the team with their goal medals which they won in a tournament in Rochester and below is Justine with her good friend Alisha.

Justine was not the only soccer player this summer.  Kyara and Matteya also played soccer with the City of Port Colborne and Mia, pictured below, played in her first competitive soccer games.  Mia played with a lot of energy and the desire to have a Mr. Freeze at the end of every game.

However, if you wanted to find the Wendling family during the Summer of 2010 it would be in the back yard of Memere's house in the swimming pool.  The weather during the Summer was very sunny and very hot so a dip in the pool was extremely enjoyable.

Another highlight of the summer was the LAFF Olympics.  A time when an extremely competitive family plays a whole bunch of sports which really do not need any athletic ability - beer pong anyone.  However, there is a trophy.  Pictured below is mon oncle Paul with a new hat for an occasion - or rather a Lobster that he will be eating later that day.

Yet, it is good for the family to come together and have fun, joke and share some great food.  With the Wendling family away in Korea is one of the few times in the year that the entire Lafontaine Family can get together.

Well that is about it for the summer...Mia seems a little sad as it is time to go.  However, it is time to say good bye and tell you that we will be having a few more upcoming postings as the school year goes on and as the Wendling's continue to explore Korea and Asia.

We hope that all of you had a great summer with your family and friends as much as the Wendling's did. God bless you and see you soon.  :)

Tokyo Disneyland

Finally school is out for the year and the Wendling family wasted no time with a quick visit to Japan to take in Tokyo Disney.

Ariel is going to show us around Tokyo disney, this may take a while  because she is riding on a snail.

To get to Disneyland or the Disneysea the Wendling's had to travel on mono-rail here they are posting in front of the entrance to get in to it.

Justine is waiting patiently  on to monorail to go to disney land.
Even though the Wendling have to idea what to look froward to.

Mama and Mia are having so much fun driving a car. The Wendling's made their stay at Disney land as fun as possible by filling there day up of rides and parades.

Before leaving Disneyland for the night the girls stop at Minnie's house for a quick photo with Minnie's house.

Kyara, Ariel and Matteya are getting ready for a day at Disney Sea

The Wendling's got up early the next morning for a full day at disney sea.

Starting with a picture of the Wendling Girls and the volcano in disney sea.

The Wendling's went to Ariel's Cave to have so fun in there.
Starting with a picture with Ariel's father.

Ariel and Justine are having fun on a ride
The Wendling are having fun on rides all day with a little picture taking and maybe one or two parades in disney sea.

Pictures with characters like Thinker Bell was also one of the things the Wendling did during the day.

The days at Tokyo Disney was a great opportunity for the Wendling family. They had a great time and love it there.

(This post was brought to you by Kyara - this was her first time blogging and she did a great job.)

First Day of School - 2010

(The Wendling Girls are pictured on the stair case at the back of GSIS on the first day of school.)

And so on August 9th, 2010 - the Wendling Family began their third year in South Korea with their first day of School at Gyeonggi Suwon International School.

Much has occurred during their time in Korea:
- Justine is in Grade 8
- Kyara is in Grade 6 - and has begun Middle School at GSIS
- Matteya is in Grade 5 - the older grade in the Elementary School
- Ariel is in Grade 3
- Mia is in Kindergarten and is a full day student at the school - no more ELC for her

(Mia with her friends Abi, Bentley, Brett and Daniel and Ms. Mast her teacher)

This year will probably be another interesting year as the Wendling family will help make history at GSIS with its first Graduating Class in the High School.

(Ariel is picture outside of her classroom on the first day of school.)

This year the Wendling family hopes to continue to travel as they are planning to go to China in October to see the Great Wall, Forbiden City and the Terra Cota Soliders; Thailand, Vietnam as well as travelling in Korea.

(Matteya is picture with her friends in her Grade 5 classroom.)

As well, GSIS is helping to host the International Children's Educator's Conference.  This will be first time that ACSI will host an event in Korea and it will be a truly international conference as there will be teachers from all over Asia.

(Kyara is pictured, maybe a little scared, in her English class.)

This school year will also be busy as all the Wendling girls will continue to be involved with their school activities, dance, piano and Matteya will continue to play hockey on the weekends.

(Using hi-tech and secret methods this picture was taken of Justine during Math class.  :) )

So the school year has begun and the Wendling Family is getting back into the groove of school and life in Korea.

So the Adventure continues....
